Our mission is to increase the independence of people with disabilities.

* Use GoodSearch as your primary search engine and earn a small donation for TILC at the same time.

* Angel Food Ministries orders due April 14th and pick-up will be April 24th.

* TBI support group meets April 13th at 2pm at the TILC office.

* The next womans social event will be April 28th at 2pm at the TILC office.

* TBI Social Event April 29th at 2pm, meet at the TILC office.

* Reduced rate transportation to Webb City's Farmer's Market Friday, April 30th.

Social Club

The Independent Living Center provides various social activities throughout the year, including our annual Picnic in the Park, our Walter Woods Fishing Trip and BBQ, and our Holiday Party. To participate in these activities, contact your TILC coordinator or call the Center at 800-346-8951 or 417-659-8086.

Annual Social Events

Annual Summer Cookout--Our largest annual event, the Picnic in the Park is generally held in June in Joplin. This event features grilled burgers, hot dogs, home made baked beans, and the best susie-Qs around! For the last three years, the food has been prepared by area County Commissioners. Join us for our next Summer Cookout in June of 2010!

Walter Woods Fishing Trip and BBQ--This event is typically held in early September of each year at the Walter Woods Nature Preserve south of Joplin. Consumers have the option of fishing in a stocked pond, walking or rolling on the accessible nature trail, or relaxing under the shade trees. TILC staff prepares BBQ and participants have the opportunity to win door prizes. Look for this event around September of 2010!

Consumer Holiday Party--The Holiday Party allows us to celebrate Thanksgiving, Christmas, Chanukah, or any other holiday celebrated by consumers at this time of year. The party is generally held in early December and each consumer in attendance is given a nice gift from the Center. A buffet-style dinner is served by the staff and consumers have the opportunity to participate in crafts. We look forward to the 2010 Holiday Season.
