About The Independent Living Center, Inc. (TILC)
To better suit the needs of people with disabilities in Southwest Missouri, The Independent Living Center was founded in 1994 as a satellite office of the Southwest Center for Independent Living in Springfield, Missouri. A year later, TILC became a fully funded, independent center. The primary goal of The Independent Living Center is to assist individuals with physical disabilities maintain their independence in the least restrictive environment possible. TILC is "consumer driven" meaning that we believe the individual knows their needs better than anyone else and should be the responsible party in directing their own care and their own future.
